Baked Beans

In my circle of family and friends, most love baked beans.  This bean recipe does not have a tomato base...my usual go to.  Serving the beans with pork ribs, they were slathered with homemade tomato barbeque sauce.  I googled a recipe that did not include tomato. Adjusting the recipe to my style of cooking.  The result... delicious!

Ingredients

2 cups dried beans, soaked overnight
1 tsp toasted cumin seed
1 tsp mustard seed
1 tsp onion seed
1 tsp coriander seed

2 tsp Zaatar or dried thyme
1 tsp kosher salt
1/2 red onion, diced
1/2 sweet onion, diced
3-4 cups vegetable bouillon
2-3 Tbsp sauce for chicken (sweet syrup with chili flakes)

2 Tbsp maple syrup or to taste
4 slices of side bacon, cut into bite-sized pieces

Preparation

Cook the beans until the texture is to your liking.  Stir in the above ingredients.  Bake in a casserole dish for 1- 1/2 hours at 350°F.  Serve.
